Intro to High Performance Skiffs (2 Wks)

Pre-Requisite: One session of Summer Race Team or CANSail 6 (*Recommended: spinnaker experience in an RS Feva)

This two week course introduces sailors to the high performance 29er skiff. Sailors have the opportunity to try out both the skipper and crew positions. The 29er is an ideal next step for an experienced RS Feva sailor. Sailors will learn the intricacies of sailing a more challenging and faster boat, how to make improvements in rigging and control systems, splicing and whipping, and rudimentary boat maintenance and sail care skills. Once sailors are proficient in the basic boat handing skills they will begin to apply those skills to a race course. This is an excellent course for sailors who are interested in joining the 29er Junior Race Team in the Fall.

Class times are 0900-1530 hrs.

Sailors must bring their own government-approved P.F.D. (lifejacket) and appropriate clothing, including at least one change of clothes and soft-soled footwear (NO Flip-Flops), as well as lunch and a lock for day lockers. Please do not bring clothing items that can't get wet! Wetsuits/drysuits are not required, but some participants find wearing one more comfortable.

Pre-Requisite: RVYC Summer Race Team or CANSail 6

* Registration Fee does not include lunch; Please purchase separately.

Please be advised that the RVYC kitchen is unable to accommodate food allergies with the "Hot Lunch Programme" and we recommend students with food allergies please bring their own lunch.
